For five decades, AFKA has united martial artists, instructors, school owners, and families through the principles of Kaizen and American Freestyle Karate. What began as a vision has grown into a respected organization dedicated to preserving tradition while building the future of martial arts leadership.
The American Freestyle Kaizen Association was founded on the belief that martial arts should develop the complete individual — mind, body, character, and spirit. AFKA combines technical excellence with personal growth, leadership development, discipline, integrity, and service to others. Our instructors and members represent generations of martial artists who continue to pursue improvement through the philosophy of Kaizen — the commitment to continuous improvement in every area of life.
For over 50 years, AFKA has remained committed to helping students become stronger physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
In 2026, AFKA proudly celebrates its 50th Anniversary Hall of Fame. This milestone event brings together martial artists from across the country to honor those who have dedicated their lives to teaching, leading, mentoring, and preserving martial arts traditions.
AFKA schools are committed to providing professional martial arts instruction in a positive and supportive environment.
Each location is independently operated while upholding the standards, philosophy, and values of the American Freestyle Kaizen Association.
